Reverend Detra Lee Mason


Detra Lee Mason was born on July 12, 1965, in Westbury, New York. She is the youngest of six children of Gail
and William Goode. She has 1 brother; William Michael Goode, Jr. of Baltimore Maryland and 3 sisters; Denise
Stellar, Diane Turner and Debra Pantlow all of Peachtree City, Georgia. In 1972 her oldest brother left this
world to claim his mansion in God’s Kingdom.
Detra was raised in a Catholic environment. She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savoir at a very early
age. At the age of 19 was Baptized. She joined Community Baptist Church in 1994 under the leadership of
Pastor Samuel Joubert. She was then Baptized by Rev. Dr. Phillip Charles Joubert, Sr. for a second time to
symbolize her re-commitment & dedication to Jesus Christ.
Detra attended Hempstead High School, in Hempstead, New York and graduated from in 1983. She attended
Grumman Data Systems Institute and received a Diploma in Computer Operations in 1996 which was the
beginning of a 16 yearcareer in Information Systems and Telecommunications. She is currently at DSA
publishing, a subsidiary of the Chicago Tribune. She matriculated at Cornell University, Old Westbury, NY in
Communications and is now studying with Trinity College of the Bible Where she will complete her Bachelors
degree in Christian Leadership. For the past four years, Detra has been a faithful student in the C.B.C Bible
Institute.
Detra married Shawn Mason on July 30, 1988 and has 3 children: Lashawn, Shannon and Diamond. All her
children were Baptized at Community Baptist Church.
Detra is active in Community Baptist Church. She is a Missionary, Deacon-in- Training and a member of the  
Women’s Fellowship. She sings in the Voices of New Life and is active in the Eastern Baptist Association.
Detra's mother Gail Goode has inspired her in her Christian walk and continues to be a blessing in her spiritual
life.
The late Sister Louise Brown, Deacon Alexander Lloyd and Deacon Dorothy Michell have all had a spiritual
influence in her life.
Detra’s first love is the Gospel of Jesus Christ and she loves bringing the gospel to people in the highway and
hedges.
Under the leadership of Pastor Samuel Joubert Sr. she has learned what true humility is all about. Detra enjoys
the great wisdom and training she receives from her Pastor. Her favorite song is "Your Grace and Mercy" and
favorite scripture is Roman 10:9:
" That if you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart
that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."
In her spare time she works outs, travels and loves family gatherings. She also owns a West Highland Terrier
named Icy.
