Reverend Gwendolyn Stewart
The Reverend Gwendolyn Stewart was born on November 21, in Bethel, North
Carolina. She is the fourth of six children of Mr. Johnny Lee Little and Mrs.
Lydia Little. She has three sisters and two brothers. The closeness of her
family life taught her much about love, sharing, forgiving and just being there
for one another. The spiritual upbringing by her parents taught her that God
loved her as an individual and that she had to return the love by making time
in her life for Him. These are traits that have remained with Gwen through
many years and which are so appreciated by all of us today.
Gwen accepted Jesus Christ as her Personal Savior at the age of 12 and was
baptized into the Christian Fellowship known as St. Mark Disciples Church,
Everetts, North Carolina, She attended school in North Carolina and
graduated from North Pitt High School on June 10, 1977. She received her
Bachelor of Science Degree in Information Systems from Marymount College
in Tarrytown, New York in December 1998.
Gwendolyn was united in holy matrimony to Daniel Stewart on October 3,
1979 They are the proud parents of two daughters: Demetrielle Dri-Zon
Stewart and Danielle Stewart. They have a precious grandaughter; Eryn
Stewart.
Gwen joined the New Light Missionary Baptist Church on May 21, 1989. An
active participant and leader in varied areas of the New Light Ministry, she
currently serves as the Co-Superintendent of the New Light Sunday Church
School; Instructor for the Young Adult Church School Class; Lay leader of the
New Light Double Honor Shepherd’s Fellowship/Pastoral Relations Fellowship;
Assistant Church Clerk; Secretary/Attendance Taker for the New Light Young
Adults & Adult Bible Study Fellowship; and as a member of the New Light
Prayer Partners and In-The-Gap Ministries.
Gwen indicates that the main influences in her life and in her Christian walk
have been Pastor, Gala and the New Light Members. She indicates that she
has learned so very much just by talking to each member, young and old.
Rev. Lyas has been her source of inspiration and encouragement and Mrs.
Robinson has been her guide in love, temperament and gentleness. The
Word as preached by Pastor Joubert is a reason that Gwen joined the New
Light Church. It encouraged, corrected and gave her guidance exactly when
needed, and still does. The power of the messages have not stopped.
