Dear Friends,
Thank you for visiting with us online.
Psalm 107, verse 1 says “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good”, and we are here to thank
him and to spread the message of salvation in Jesus Christ. It is
the purpose of the New Light Missionary Baptist Church to give thanks and praise to God
because he is so very good. We are, collectively, witnesses to the goodness and the grace
of our God in that he has sustained us, kept us and brought us together, even in
cyberspace, to render thanks and praise to Him.
We are joint heirs to the promises that Jesus made when He told Peter that “Upon this rock,
I will build my church”. That rock is Jesus as the unmovable cornerstone upon which the
church exists and the promise is that we each will receive the keys to the kingdom of heaven
through and as a result of our own confessions of faith that Jesus Christ is the Lord of our
lives, that he is the Messiah, that he is the Son of the Living God. This is, my friends, the
reason for our existence.
Our journey, the road upon which we have traveled to get here, has not always been paved
smooth, but it has always been guided by our merciful Father in heaven and powered by the
blood of Jesus, who laid down His own life that we might live. So, ours is a celebration, not to
dwell on any particular accomplishments of our own, but to acknowledge that God is indeed
able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that
works in us, and that we are able to do all things through Christ who strengthens us.
We have traveled a road filled with adversity and sacrifice. James says that we should
“consider it pure joy when we face trials of many kinds, because we know that the testing of
our faith develops perseverance, and that perseverance must finish its work so that we may
be mature and complete not lacking anything.
With determination, with faith, and with God by our side, we have arrived at a point that proves
that God can do all things, we have arrived at a point that confirms that God rewards
faithfulness, we have arrived at a point that acknowledges that the God that we serve is
faithful to His promise that he will never leave us or forsake us.. We have only taken but
another step on our journey, and our work is not yet finished. But, each step, each year is
significant and so we take pause, through this celebration to thank God for all he has done,
and for the wonderful things that he will continue to do.
God bless all who will share in this online experience with us. We pray that your joy will
continue to increase and be overflowing, in the knowledge of Jesus Christ our Lord.
